we are pleased to inform you that the organisation of the Conference is proceeding well.
The first year of the preparatory work is ending and the Organising and Scientific Committees have been working at full speed.

As you can see from the programme the speakers of the plenary sessions will offer the audience a good insight in interesting clinical issues object of their personal reflections. These issues offer topics such as the influence of transgenerational factors, therapy of the parental couple, or the transformation of the internal world in the psychotherapy of a borderline child. Presence of catastrophic and destructive fantasies and defences are examined as well and the possibility of symbolisation discussed.

The three panels offer the audience the possibility of a variety of point of view by psychotherapists of different countries about important and, alas, actual topics such as the effects of violence and torture upon children, or the reaction and attraction of adolescents to horror films, or the effects of familiarity in the use of the media upon young people. One of the panels will get us familiar with what is happening around child psychotherapy in the Eastern European countries.

The call for papers brought a rich return of interesting and stimulating scientific paper proposals and enabled us to organise 24 workshops in the first two afternoons.

As you can see from these brief flashes the main topic of the internal objects and their vicissitudes will be amply examined from different theoretical angles and generously proposed for discussion with the audience.
Last but not least is the important issue of the change of venue of the Congress. We will now be located in the "Angelicum" an ancient catholic university with an interesting cloister, the building faces the Trajan Forum and is located in the ancient part of Rome.

We hope that this international scientific encounter shall become an important confrontation and exchange of knowledge at the dawn of the 21st century.

C’est avec grand plaisir que nous vous informons que l’organisation du congrès avance à grands pas. En effet, durant cette dernière année, le comité d’organisation et le comité scientifique ont réalisé un travail de préparation admirable.

Comme vous pouvez le voir dans le programme, les orateurs des séances plénières offriront à l’audience leur réflexion personnelle sur grand nombre de sujets cliniques. Ils traiteront entre autres l’influence de facteurs transgénérationnels, l’approche analytique du couple parental ou la transformation du monde interne dans la psychothérapie de l’enfant borderline. Les fantasmes de catastrophe et de destruction ainsi que les défenses érigées contre ces fantasmes sont examinés tout comme la possibilité d’arriver à un processus de symbolisation.

Les trois panels offriront à l’audience l’occasion d’écouter des points de vue variés présentés par des psychothérapeutes psychanalytiques de divers pays sur des sujets importants mais malheureusement forts actuels, tels les effets de la violence et de la torture sur les enfants, ou encore la réaction et l’attraction des adolescents pour les films d’horreur et de violence, ou encore les effets de l’usage des médias sur les jeunes adolescents. Un dernier panel nous introduira dans le monde de la psychothérapie de l’enfant et de l’adolescent dans les pays de l’Europe de l’Est.

Des présentations riches et stimulantes auront lieu dans 24 ateliers répartis sur les deux après-midi du congrès.

Comme ces brèves informations vous le montrent, le sujet du congrès, “Les objets internes et leurs vicissitudes” sera questionné sous différents angles théoriques et cliniques, permettant ainsi une discussion approfondie avec les participants au congrès. Dernière information d’importance concernant le lieu du congrès. Ce dernier se tiendra à “l’Angelicum” qui est une ancienne université catholique présentant un cloître intéressant en face du forum Trajan situé dans la Rome historique.

Nous espérons que cette rencontre scientifique internationale deviendra un lieu de confrontations et d’échanges de connaissances à la veille de ce 21ième siècle.

siamo lieti di potervi comunicare che l'organizzazione del Congresso EFPP Roma '99 procede soddisfacentemente, stiamo completando il primo anno di lavoro preparatorio, anno di intenso lavoro sia per il Comitato Organizzativo che per il Comitato Scientifico.

Come potete costatare dal programma i relatori delle sedute plenarie offriranno all'ascolto una notevole panoramica degli argomenti clinici oggetto delle loro personali riflessioni. Queste tematiche offrono spunti quali l'influenza dei fattori trans-generazionali, la psicoterapia della coppia genitoriale o la trasformazione del mondo interno nella psicoterapia di un bambino borderline. Vengono prese in esame le fantasie di catastrofe e distruttività e viene discussa la possibilità per il paziente di accedere alla simbolizzazione.

I tre panels offrono al pubblico l'occasione di considerare una varietà di punti di vista da parte di psicoterapeuti di varie parti del mondo, riguardo ad argomenti, alcuni dei quali purtroppo di attualità, quali gli effetti della violenza e della tortura sui bambini o l'attrazione e la reazione degli adolescenti ai films dell'orrore, o gli effetti sui giovani della familiarità nell'uso dei media. Uno dei panels ci introdurrà a quanto avviene nel campo della psicoterapia infantile nei paesi dell'Europa dell'Est.

Il “call for papers" ha richiamato un buon numero di proposte di presentazioni scientifiche e ci ha incoraggiato ad organizzare 24 workshops nei pomeriggi dell'uno e due ottobre.

Come potete constatare da questi brevi accenni al programma, il tema principale degli oggetti interni e le loro vicissitudini verrà ampiamente esaminato da punti di vista teorici diversi, proposti generosamente alla discussione con il pubblico. Non meno importante è l'argomento del cambiamento del sito del Congresso. Questo avrà luogo all'"Angelicum", antica Università Pontificia con un bel chiostro; l'edificio è situato vicino al Foro di Traiano al centro della Roma antica.

Ci auguriamo che questo incontro scientifico internazionale offra ai partecipanti una occasione di confronto e scambio di conoscenze all'alba del ventunesimo secolo.
